Geomatics and the Government of Québec
In order to better serve its data clientele in this field, the Government of Québec set up a coordination and dialogue structure. This dynamic organization comprising 22 ministries and public agencies contributes to the creation of a common vision among all government actors, which in turn facilitates the sharing and re-use of geographical information, among other things. In the first place, this involves concretely a common official geographical foundation, followed by the implementation of global framework strategies for the production, management, distribution and accessibility of geographical information. This approach results in improved services to individual citizens and companies. The new management methods today place Québec in an enviable position on the world geomatics scene.
